Woodlands

The British woodlands do not just provide us with wood, industry and a charming place to take a country walk. They are ecological powerhouses which provide food and shelter for many species of both plants and animals. Therefore, they are heavily regulated by various agencies and local authorities in order to protect the important role they play in our conservation. Our Expertise In Woodland Law

Bennett Oakley Solicitors is the preferred law firm of one of the top woodland sales agencies in the UK.

We can advise you on the following:

  • Buying and selling woodlands
  • Planning permission
  • Countryside Rights of Way and all conveyancing issues

Buying and Selling Woodlands

We specialise in the conveyancing relating to woodlands. Our lawyers can advise you on some of the unique issues relating to buying and selling woodland including:

  • Shooting rights
  • Tree preservation orders or special areas designated for scientific research or biodiversity
  • Wayleaves
  • Fencing

Planning Permission

Planning permission is always required to build any structures on the woodland that do not relate to forestry. If the work or buildings relate to forestry work planning permission may not be required. It is very unlikely that you will be granted planning permission to build a dwelling house in your woodland unless you can prove that you have worked your woodland for a number of years and it is your main business and income source.
