This is making your intellectual property work for you. It usually involves selling or licensing intellectual property for economic gain. We commonly advise upon licences and other agreements that enable clients to receive economic benefit for their work.

FAQ Topics

How can I establish ownership of intellectual property?

Ownership of intellectual property can be a tricky area to navigate, depending upon how intellectual property was created and whether any agreements were in place. We provide expert advice upon ownership which is often the first step in seeking to monetise intellectual property.

Does intellectual property have to be registered?

In short, no. Whilst there are registers that offer protection and evidence of ownership such as the trade mark register many intellectual property rights are automatic, such as copyright. Understanding these rights and how they occur is key.

What is intellectual property enforcement?

This is protecting your intellectual property from infringement and preventing others from seeking to gain from your intellectual property. Most infringement cases are resolved without the need for Court proceedings but occasionally a dispute arises that needs input from the Courts. We can advise upon enforcement and strategies for enforcement along with defences if you have been accused of infringement.
