James qualified as a solicitor in 2012 after a dynamic career that began with senior roles in housing management for Genesis Housing Group (formerly Paddington Churches Housing Association) and a secondment to CityWest Homes, the housing arm of Westminster City Council. He later practiced at well-known London firms, serving as a Partner from 2017 to 2021 before becoming a consultant.
At Bennett Oakley, James specialises in commercial property, offering clients knowledgeable and pragmatic advice. His experience also includes advising a foreign bank on secured lending for commercial property. Known for his thoughtful yet personable style, James brings depth to every client relationship.
Outside of the legal sphere, James has served as an elected local authority member and continues to engage with political and community issues. He’s also known for a few unexpected past roles, backstage work in West End theatres, London motorcycle couriering, and even playing in a band for ten years, each contributing to his unique and approachable perspective.
